Two goals in each half from Dwight Yorke, Craig Hignett, Damien Duff and Andy Cole saw off a woeful Spurs.
However, Tottenham had to play for 60 minutes with ten men after Gustavo Poyet was red-carded for a dreadful tackle on Rovers skipper Garry Flitcroft.
Flitcroft left the field for stitches in his leg wound and although he returned to complete the remainder of the first half, he was replaced at half time by David Dunn.
It was a sad ending to Teddy Sheringham's glittering Tottenham career. He led the Spurs side out for the last time but had little reward.
Blackburn started brightly and Spurs goalkeeper Kasey Keller needed quick reactions as early as the opening minute to deny Cole.
Three minutes, Keller was picking the ball out of the back of his net. Duff's pass found Cole and his neat back-heel released Yorke to fire home.
Spurs eventually got into the game and both Chris Perry and Sheringham headed wide.
However, after Poyet's sending-off, Spurs had to regroup and they fell 2-0 behind a minute before the break when Hignett collected a loose clearance from Perry to drill past Keller.
The second half was only two minutes old when Rovers grabbed their third point. Cole, Yorke and Duff were involved in a move that saw the Irish international sidefoot the ball past Keller.
The game as a serious contest was over. However, Rovers still had time to add a fourth.
This time it was Duff who turned provider, cutting through a flat-footed Spurs defence, rounded Keller before squaring the ball back to Cole who was left with the easy task of firing into the net.
