The Georgian didn’t feature in the Premier League last season and the season before that only managed to make three appearances. Big Sam has indicated that the situation will not get any better for the player who has slipped well down the pecking order at Ewood Park.
Last season the player went out on loan to Reading and Newcastle but no move to take him on a permanent basis has been forthcoming.
The 28-year-old still has twelve months left on his contract, but Sam would like the defender to go.
"He is one to let go for our sake and for his," Sam told the Lancashire Telegraph.
"He has played far too little football at this club over the last two years to be wanting to stay and for us to be wanting to keep him.
“I think wherever a football club would like to take him on, we wouldn’t be standing in his way.
"We would not want to loan him again. We want him to build a future for himself.
"He has still got a few good years of playing football in him.
“Of course one of the problems is he can’t match the salary at other clubs that he gets at Blackburn Rovers now.
"That is one of the major reasons he hasn’t moved on in the past two years.
“But now is the time to move for the football rather than thinking about the money.”
