Andy Cole will sit this one out as he begins a three-match suspension, incurred following his dismissal at Bolton.
Graeme Souness said: "It's a new partnership up front, presenting a big chance for them both. They have three games together initially and, barring injuries, Matt and Yordi will start all three.
"I regard Yordi as a good, honest, uncomplicated striker who gets the ball down in the box. He presents a physical and an aerial threat to defenders.
"He will bring people in and if you are prepared to sniff around and come off him, you will get good chances to score."
