The Rovers boss is well aware that with prize money determined by clubs' end of season league placings then the higher the side finish in the table, the more funds he is likely to have for team strengthening during the close season.
"We have much to play for and to suggest otherwise is nonsensical," Hughes told the clubs official website.
"We want to finish as high as we can in the table, not least for the extra revenue it will generate.
"We are very pleased to be safe from the threat of relegation and everyone has worked very hard to bring about that situation.
"We know we have not had the best of coverage in the media and it is frustrating that the progress we have made and the achievements of the last few months have gone almost unnoticed."
