Harry Redknapp had been looking to increase his options at the back and Nelsen was identified as the player he wanted.
At first it looked like Spurs had missed the train with this deal as the clock went past the deadline of 11pm.
Rovers though, like the good chaps that they are agreed to release the veteran centre-back from his contract at Ewood Park so that Tottenham could register him as a free agent.
A statement on the Tottenham official website read: "We are delighted to announce the signing of defender Ryan Nelsen.
"The New Zealand international joins us from Blackburn Rovers where he spent seven years and made over 200 appearances."
Nelsen will be hoping for a place in Harry Redknapp's squad for the trip to Liverpool on Monday.
Best not stare at him then.
