Souness: Tailor needs to toughten up

Last updated : 26 January 2002 By

"It's a test for 'Tiny' and that is the one area of his game that he is short on," said Souness.

"If he grasps the physical part of his game, which centre-halves have to grasp, then he will play for England.

"If he doesn't grasp that, then he won't play for England.

"He has to work on his physical presence and if you are 6ft 4ins and you have a body like he has, you should be a bully and I want him to be a bully.

"I know if I'd been 6ft 4ins tall, I would have been a real bully and I only just played at it.

"You could beat him up and he would still thank you for it, he's that nice a boy.

"He's son-in-law material. He's the sort of man you would want your daughter to come home with, but I don't want a team of sons-in-law.

"He has to make a decision and it's going to come upon him very quickly. If he wants to keep that shirt, that's something he has to do."
