Rovers confirmed their actions today after The Terriers had revealed a bid from an un-named Premiership side.
The highly coveted youngster has aroused interest from several clubs, but only one bid of £800,000 from Sunderland has been rejected by the club.
Blackburn cheif executive John Williams spoke today of the clubs thoughts on Stead, "He is a name that has been mentioned and we know that a lot of Premiership clubs are watching him."
The player's agent John Seasman also revealed the 19 year old is eager for a higher level of football, "Until Huddersfield accept a bid from a club, there's not a lot we can do. The player wants to play at a higher level and we hope the club doesn't stand in the way of his true progress."
