Souness Reaction: Birmingham City

Rovers were returning to the ground where just a month before they had inflicted a 4-0 Premier League defeat on Steve Bruce's side but this time around the side just didn't turn-up and were comprehensively beaten by the same scoreline.

"We tried to get the message across before the game that we would be up against a Birmingham side we had embarrassed four weeks ago," Souness said after the game.

"We knew we would be meeting an aggressive team but unfortunately we did not get the message across to enough players.

"We didn't win many individual battles and collectively we were outfought and outplayed."
