Souness: Destiny In Our Own hands

Last updated : 17 April 2004 By Colin Rae
The 1-0 win against Leicester City on saturday eased the relegation worries hovering around Ewood Park for another week as Rovers climbed to fifteenth place in the table and more importantly five points clear of third from bottom placed Leeds Utd.

"It was a scrappy affair, especially in the first half," Souness said after the narrow 1-0 win against The Foxes.

"There were two nervous teams fighting for their Premiership survival.

"We got the breakthrough and although it was an own goal, Jon Stead was going to put it in anyway.

"In the second half, we did create some chances and could have made it 2-0, which would have made it far more comfortable for us and maybe could have helped us settle down a bit and play a bit more football.

"We now have four games to do what we have to do. Who knows how many points we'll need, but we've got to get them.

"But the most you can ask for is your destiny to be in your own hands, and it is that, so it's up to us."
