But, Souness is well aware that Ipswich will also be confident of gaining all three points from the match at Ewood Park, and said: "Ipswich will probably see this as a game that they can take something from. They have a very hard run-in and they will know all about that.
"But I don't like being in the bottom three and hopefully a win tonight will take us out of there.
"Whatever happens tonight, though, there will be lots of twists and turns. I do know, though, that we will go into the game with confidence after the win against Villa last week."
Craig Short is the only significant absentee from the Rovers squad. The former Everton defender will miss the fourth game of his five-match ban.
Turkish newcomer Hakan Unsal is set to play, although he may be forced to accept a role as full-back after operating on the left-hand side against Aston Villa last week.
Striker Andy Cole will play his last game before starting a three-game ban following his dismissal against Bolton 10 days ago.
