"Damien Duff has two years on his contract so we aren't confident he'll stay - we know he will," said Souness.
"The people who have shown an interest in him maybe thought they could get him for £7 million or £8 million and for him to be a squad player.
"But when you get to £20 million, no manager can turn around to his board and say 'I want to spend £20 million on someone who will be a squad player.'
"That player would have to be a regular," continued Souness, "and I don't think Damien is ready for that yet," he continued...
"He isn't even guaranteed a place here with us, he'll have to be judged like everyone else will be this season."
