Souey admits that he deserved the red card he was given when he complained that Emile Heskey’s lunge on Nils Eric Johansson went unnoticed, but he feels he was harshly punished.
“I am disspointed,” he said. “But we have to play by the rules.
“I feel it is particularly harsh given the circumstances, but I have to take the medicine.
“I was not happy with the challenge, and there was an exchange of words, but I will take my punishment.
“We have a responsibility as coaches but at the same time I would ask them to look at the situation. If we take out the passion and emotion, we will not be able to sell the Premier League as a product.
“I feel I have been harshly treated, but I will take it on the chin.
“I am not happy, and if it happens again I will go about appealing.”
