"We needed a response in the second half and it was important to be positive," the Rovers boss said after the 2-1 victory.
"I thought if we could get to half-time then I might change things around, but they scored four minutes before half-time and it made the changes easy.
"I wanted a response and I got it. I thought they were magnificent in the second half. I lost count of how many we scored, but thankfully two of them counted.
"When the third goal was chalked off I started to think it wouldn't be our day, but we kept going and kept forcing the game and kept doing the hard yards."
