"It was probably the most nervous I've ever been before a match," said Savage.
"I winced a few times in some of the tackles but the leg was fine. It was great to be back, it's been a long and hard six months.
"There have been a lot of downs and not many ups, but this match was my reward for a lot of hard work I've put in.
"It was a bad break - the surgeon told me it was one of the worst I could have had. It was shattered in several places and was a compound fracture.
"But it just shows that a lot of determination and hard work to get back has paid off. I'm delighted."
