The player has established himself as a firm favourite with the Rovers’ fans since being brought in by former manager Sam Allardyce.
Salgado believes that big things are on the way for Blackburn and he hopes to be part of it.
"I have to thank Sam," he said.
"He was one of the main reasons I came to England and signed here.
"I am enjoying the Premier League and enjoying Blackburn. It's about a new manager, new owners and the fans.
"But if it's about the lifestyle, enjoying the Premier League and enjoying Blackburn, then I am really happy here.
"In the Premier League it's very physical. I am feeling fit and I can recover and still enjoy it.
"One of the main reasons I'd like to stay and have one more year is because we have a little more chance to do something big."
