Hanley has had other clubs taking a look at him and it was thought that he could have been the subject of a move when his contract ran out in the summer, but the 18 year old decided to put pen to paper with Rovers.
Hanley was one of Rover's better players in last season’s youth side and helped the side on their way to the final of the FA Youth Cup.
Steve Kean has said that he wants to keep the better players from the youth set up and Hanley deciding to stay will be a bit of a boost for the manager.
First team appearances are just around the corner for this youngster.
