The news comes as a major shock and will no doubt disappoint Rovers fans, who see Parkes as a hero at the club.
Parkes joined Rovers in 1969 as a player, and has sinced coached at and managed the club six times. He has worked under FIFTEEN different managers over four decades.
Hughes is thought to be looking to make the club backroom staff his own in his desperate bid to keep the club in the Premiership. Ex-Wales International Glyn Hodges is reportedly being lined up to take the vacant position.
I am sure all Rovers fans will join me in thanking Tony for everything he has done for the club, his role in the most successful period in the club's history and for simply being Mr Blackburn Rovers. He will be sorely misssed.
