The Championship is still very tight and although Rovers are sitting in 15th place at the moment after a string of poor results, they are still just six points away from a play-off place.
Good results over Christmas and New Year could see Rovers right back in the mix and on course for the targeted return to the Premier League at the end of the season.
Speaking to the Lancashire Telegraph, Rhodes said: "It is an important Christmas period coming up and going into the New Year it would be nice to pick up a head of steam coming into the playoff time.
"There are a lot of points on offer in a very short space of time. It has to be up to us to be on our toes, on our best physical game and to try and do the best we can.
"The games are coming thick and fast and that is a good chance for us. We have to have the mentality that there are a lot of points up for grabs and that is a good chance for us to turn it round."
