Tugay has rediscovered the quality form he possessed when he first arrived at Blackburn.
Souness said: "Tugay has been outstanding for us and young David will learn a lot from playing alongside him.
"The two of them were excellent for 50 minutes against Southampton and again against Chelsea they were excellent for 90 minutes.
"They were playing against a World Cup winner in (Emmanuel) Petit and they bossed that area, and if you boss that area, you boss the game, and you are always favourites to win.
"When the ball drops, if you win them you are on the front foot, and if you lose them you are on the backfoot.
"That's why we were on the front foot for most of the game because David and Tugay were bossing Petit and Frank Lampard."
