Pedersen has struggled this season, only scoring twice, in the Intertoto Cup against Vetra and the Carling Cup against Portsmouth and he was relieved to finally be back on the scoresheet.
He told the Lancashire Telegraph he wants to take this on and recapture his form in a bid to repay the fans for their support.
"It's important during times like that that the fans are behind you because you can be dragged down otherwise.
"Virtually all of the people I met were positive and were willing me to score," he said.
"I went to the gas station and one fan there said to me 'I'm sure you will score soon' and it's nice when people believe in you like that.
"That helps you rather than people having a go at you."
"I don't know if there was anything in particular wrong before and maybe it just wasn't my turn to score. I just had to work hard and keep going.
"I have been in positions before this season and hit the bar and I've almost killed someone in the stands with one of my shots.
"I was hitting everything except the target, so it was good to get one in.
"You get a lot of confidence from scoring a goal and hopefully I can do it again."
