Kean should be meeting up with the club’s owners this week to begin talks about targets and the transfer window activities in general.
The Rovers boss has identified that at the moment the club needs another goal scorer and someone who can create things.
"We'd like to bring a midfielder and a striker in," Kean told the Lancashire Evening Telegraph.
"We will also look to see if there is excess money available. Then we'd like to strengthen other areas.
"But we certainly need a midfielder. At the minute we are playing Morten Pedersen in there and he is doing a great job, David Dunn as well.
"But we are a little bit light in midfield. We have been since the start of the season.
"And you are always looking to add a striker who will score goals. Yak is doing it just now but every club is looking for strikers."
