Serie A giants Lazio (Of Rome's Stadio Olimpico) will, subject to final confirmation, be providing the opposition for the game - kick-off for which will be Friday August 9 at 8pm.
John Williams, Rovers Chief exec, recently said: "There are a couple of details to be finalised, but we are delighted with the prospect of entertaining Lazio at Ewood.
"They are a major force in European football and coming on the back of last season's big game with Barcelona, it continues the pre-season trend which I believe our fans enjoy," he continues according to Rovers official site...
"A couple of years ago, we played PSV Eindhoven on a Friday night and that was a great success. I am sure the Lazio game will be a great occasion."
Looking back, Lazio haven't enjoyed a particularly good season only managing to finish mid-table in Serie A. They did manage, however, to beat Inter Milan in the final game of the season, a result which denied Inter the title and allowed Juventus to claim the crown.
Lazio, who boast an excellent multi-national squad, are sure to provide Rovers with a stiff challenge. The game will take place just days ahead of the new Premiership season.
Ticket arrangements will be available once everything has been confirmed.
