"I'm delighted. I feel the staff we have now are ambitious and they want to take the club forward," Friedel told the Lancashire Evening Telegraph.
"They want to get us up to where we were a few years back when we were fighting for the European places."
"I've always been someone who has tried to keep myself as fit as possible and I think I've probably got four or five good years left in me, so I was very comfortable in committing myself to another three years."
