But then again he would be, it's something that didn't happen that often last term and here we are, two games in and yet to lose a game.
There will be talk of promotion next.
But Kean was not so happy at the style of play his side produced, there were precious few chances and whenever the side had possession of the ball, they were so nervous they looked like they would faint at anytime.
Now Kean wants them to get over that and utilise Danny Murphy more in build up play as apparently, that's what he is good at.
Last night the game was won with a solitary goal from Colin Kazim-Richards, but he soon left the field injured and that is the sort of luck Kean will be hoping to avoid after losing the services of Leon Best so early.
Kean told reporters: "I thought we were edgy, a bit nervous on the ball. When we've got the type of players we have, we can't be.
"Danny Murphy will be marked during the games but we've got to give him the ball. He's got enough experience and Dickson (Etuhu) has got enough power to wriggle out of challenges.
"That's the way we're going to play because if we're going to miss those two out, certainly Danny, it's pointless having him on the pitch. He's a footballer that opens up teams and defences with passes so we've got to pass to him."
