A few eyebrows were raised when Kean stepped in for ‘the Yak’, although the £1.5 million spend on the 29 year old seeps very cheap at the price at the moment.
The striker was doing well until he picked up a three match ban, but on his return on Saturday, he showed that things were just the same.
Yakubu netted the opener for Rovers with Steven N'Zonzi and Junior Hoilett also finding the net before Rangers pulled a couple of goals back through Jamie Mackie.
Kean told the Lancashire Telegraph: "I think it's probably been the Yak and Demba Ba.
"When you add together what those two have cost in comparison to some other strikers, then they have been the bargains of the season.
"Both have done really well. The mark of a goalscorer is his goal ratio, it's not really how many games but how many chances does he get to score goals?
"If you look back at the goals the Yak's scored this season, he's not missed too many.
"His chances to goal ratio would be right amongst the best."
