The accident was serious enough to see Jansen in a coma for a few days and it took a month for him to work out what had happened.
Doctors said that he may never have played football again – but Matt surprised them all with a quick-sharp recovery.
“It took me four weeks to snap out of it and realise I must have been in an accident,” he told the Lancashire Evening Telegraph.
“The doctors told me I was lucky and said it would take time but I have made better progress than they thought.”
The rising star was picked for Sven’s England team just prior to the World Cup but had to pull out because of a bug. He hopes to return to the Premiership by November.
