I wont let game kill me says Sam

Allardyce spent several weeks away from the club after undergoing an angioplasty to widen one of his coronary arteries two months ago. His trademark passionate style on the touchline means fears over his stress levels are never too far away, but he claims he will never take risks with his health.

The 55-year-old, quoted in the Sunday Mirror, said: "I'm not worried it's going to kill me. If I thought that I would stop."

He added: "You live in a dangerous world on the touchline and I was the one, along with Dave Bassett, who piloted the scheme to monitor the health of managers. I'm a calmer animal now. You mellow.

"At the moment I'm not chilling out or de-stressing because we're not getting results (but) jumping up and down and shouting is not really the best way to go about managing today."

Allardyce also played down the reported scrutiny on his position at Ewood Park, with some reports suggesting Sunday's clash with Fulham could mark his farewell.

"You can't laugh off something like that because it creates a perception in people's minds that it's true," he said.

"(But) I've spoken to the board and they've said there's nothing in it so we move on."
