"In view of what was going on with Alan (Curbishley) it was important that we focused on the job in hand and we played excellently and saw the game out comfortably," the Rovers boss said after the 2-0 win at The Valley.
"It was a big three points for us. The players have been magnificent since I came to the club and have embraced everything I have tried.
"If we can achieve a European place it will be a fantastic achievement.
"We have two home games left, one against the champions Chelsea, but it is in our hands and it is an exciting time for everyone at the club."
