Two stunning goals from Morten Gamst Pedersen and Tugay secured the 2-1 win against Chris Colemans side at Ewood Park.
"I felt we dominated and deserved the win and the quality of both our goals was stunning," Hughes said after the game.
"Both the goalscorers have the ability to hit a football with pace and direction and they proved it - you will not see two better goals in a season.
"The players had to re-group after the disappointment of West Ham on the opening day but credit to them for a really good effort.
"It's a big win for us and we've got to kick on from here and show everybody that we're more than capable of holding our own at this level.
"Tugay brought a lot of pleasure to a lot of people with the winning goal and he is a great talent. He is 35 this week, I just wish he was 25."
