"I'm obviously delighted with the result, we wanted the three points and it was a good start,'' he said after the game at Ewood Park.
"It was important to make an immediate impact and we've been able to do that.
"It's been a difficult week for the players as they've been in the dark for the last 10 days so I thought it was important to make an impact once the decision was made to come to the football club.
"There are obvious areas we need to work on and I will be doing that.
"We've made a good start - the best start I could have hoped for. We've got a base now with the other results going well for us and now we've got to build on it.
"Sometimes when a new person takes charge it helps the team and you don't have to say much. The secret now is to keep that going."
