"It was a comprehensive victory," the Rovers boss said after the game at Ewood Park.
"We created a number of good chances in the first half, but we did not take any advantage of them.
"We gave Charlton a lifeline in the second half, but I thought the last period of the game would be crucial, given they were a man down.
"Some of our attacking in the second half was very good. And we made the most of Ben Thatcher's dismissal.
"We didn't capitalise on situations in the first half but after the break we looked very strong and powerful."
