Rovers were well beaten by Alan Pardew's side and to add to the managers misery striker Jason Robers sufferred another bad injury.

"He's broken his fifth metatarsal bone," Hughes said after the 2-1 defeat at Upton Park.

"No, it's not been a good day at the office.

"We didn't perform in the first half and although I banged the drum asking for a fast start we just didn't ask any questions of West Ham.

"We lost power when Jason went off and although the second half was better, their second goal took the wind out of our sails.

"West Ham looked nervous today but, unfortunately, we just didn't ask them enough questions or test their nerve."
