"We're disappointed. We felt that we were the team more likely to win up until their goal," he said after the game at Ewood Park.
"When you see Alan Shearer lining up a free-kick on the edge of the box you fear for the worst. After they scored the shape wasn't what it needed to be.
"We should have had a foothold in the game long before that. We were the better side in the first half.
"We created a reasonable amount of chances and just needed one to go in, but after the first goal we were poor and we showed naivety at the end.
"We got done with a sucker punch with the third goal late on.
"It was a real opportunity today and I felt that if we had a little bit more self belief in our play then it might have gone our way."
