Hanley was handed his first-team debut at Aston Villa in Rovers' final game of last season and signed a new contract at Ewood Park over the summer.
He has since been sidelined with a knee problem, but the 18-year-old made his comeback in the 1-1 draw with Bolton reserves on Tuesday and feels he is back to full fitness.
"I enjoyed it. It was a bit tough going and I was struggling to get my second wind, but I was glad to get it under my belt and I will kick on now," Hanley told the club`s official website.
"Just near the end of pre-season I got the injury and I think it has been seven or eight weeks now. It is frustrating trying to get back to fitness, but I have been working hard every day and I'm glad it's done now and I'm back to fitness.
"It was bone bruising in my knee and I struggled to get over it. It took a while, but it is right enough now."
