"Obviously after the weekend we felt we should have possibly won the game, we didn't take our chances, but in the end got a deserved equaliser," Emerton told Sky Sports News.
"We will pick ourselves up and take positives from the game and take them into the game against Villa on Wednesday.
"Going forward, even in the game on Saturday against Boro, we were quite good and created numerous chances and just didn't find the back of the net, but that is football.
"I think we still have a lot of positives from the game and like I say, hopefully if we play as well as we did on Saturday against Villa, we can get a result there."
"I think when we first set out we were aiming for a top-six finish, as we did in the last couple of seasons, and I think we have the ability within the side to achieve that.
"So hopefully if things go well we can get there."
