Yorke was substituted during Rovers last game against Everton, a decision based on precaution says the Rovers boss.
"Dwight felt a pull in his kicking muscle and with Andy Cole suspended and several big matches on the horizon, we felt we didn't need to risk him in the second half," Souness told the clubs official website.
"Dwight will be back in training today and is relishing the challenge of a return to the ground where he spent several highly-successful seasons.
