Allardyce said: "The strong words and strong views Graeme Souness has come out with are disgusting, in my opinion.
"He should concentrate on his own team, rather than talking about my players, which I think is very unprofessional.
"If Andy Cole decides he wants to stamp on someone, then do you really expect them not to react? We're not the villains here.
"There's a lot of things I could come out with about what went on on Saturday, but I won't go down to that level.
"Things happened that shouldn't have happened. But I'm not going to go down that road. That's for him to sort out."
